”The youth is the hope of the future.” ~Dr. Jose Rizal
Our community faces a number of socio-economic challenges that affect the success of our youth in school. This fact calls for additional resources to truly ensure that no child gets left behind. We promote continued learning in creative and effective ways for students in grades 1-12. Our program works to improve the academic performance of our students and close the academic achievement gap. We also support the students in their personal development. Our on-site case manager and clinician are available for the youth and their families for counseling and assistance in other social services. Every Wednesday our youth participate in life skills workshops organized by our staff psychologist. The life skills activities help kids develop interpersonal skills and opens discussions on important youth topics. Past workshops topics include:
The life skills workshop goals are to 1) help the youth become better communicators, 2) offer the youth a safe space to voice their problems, and 3) offer youth tools to face different social interaction challenges.
The after-school program operates Monday – Friday from 2:00 to 6:00 PM. We offer meals for youth 17 yrs. old or younger at 3:00 PM and at 4:00 PM on days of operation. Unfortunately, we are unable to accept kindergartners at this time. The program is free of charge, equal opportunity, and registers participants on a first come first serve basis.
