This STEM class saw our kids playing weapons designers through mechanical engineering. Mechanical engineers take many parts of put them together to make something new.
In this case, our kids go into groups of 3 to take popsicle sticks, duct tape, small cups, and rubber bands to create a catapult. The key word was energy. Energy is what you need to make things move. Thus, the kids figured out how to make a catapult that uses energy to launch a marble into the air.
The groups had two competitions: 1. Throw your marble the farthest, and 2. Throw your marble closest to the cone.
The team who won the first competition: Marc, Maricar, and Inigo!
The team who won the second competition: Matthew, Antonio, and Jared!
